Although it was unceremoniously canceled after just one season, the short-lived WB series BIRDS OF PREY actually took a lot of risks, and for that, I think we are seeing the fruits of their labor now. Back then, I don’t think anyone expected a TV show to dive into the Batman mythos, but instead of starring Batman, the show starred his daughter, who sort of took over for dad while Batwoman (played by Dina Meyers) worked in the background to help out. I don’t really remember what character Rachel Skarsten plays, but she was another integral part of the show, I believe. Anyways, here are some old promos of Rachel Skarsten from BIRDS OF PREY. Wonder what Rachel has been up to now…?

I know that when the WB premiered their superhero show BIRDS OF PREY, they were hyping Ashley Scott as the show’s star, which wasn’t a bad idea. She was young and hot and looked good in superhero tights. But for my money, the real draw of the show was Dina Meyer, who was then coming off STARSHIP TROOPERS, and was already an established hottie. Alas, the show didn’t last, which is a crying shame. Then again, they did have Dina Meyer sitting in a wheelchair throughout the show, which was sort of, well, lame, but that’s TV for ya. It’s actually not just Ashley Scott, but also co-stars Rachel Skarsten and Dina Meyer, posing for some BIRDS OF PREY promos. If you don’t recall it, BIRDS OF PREY was a little known WB show from 2002. It starred Ashley Scott as the Huntress, a vigilante who was the illegitimate daughter of Batman and Catwoman. Or at least it was Catwoman. The show never really said, but I think that was the inference, given the Huntress’ “cat”-like powers and dress. In any case, the show didn’t last long, but it was hot while it lasted.
